How to Manage Your Finances, According to Your Zodiac Sign

Astrology has been around since the beginning of time, and that in itself speaks volumes. Some use astrology to indulge their curiosities in matters of love and romance, while others take note of the upcoming Mercury retrograde cycles, hoping this cosmic phenomenon doesn’t coincide with prominent dates on their social calendar. The same way we’re likely to depend on a weather app to plan around a storm, the cosmos, too, presents us with our own road map.

There’s only one of you, and your astrological footprint is one of the many attributes that make you unique. This is no reason to put yourself in a box, or solely attach yourself to a particular astrological energy. You’d be selling yourself short, as your zodiac sign is one of the many layers that contribute to your celestial footprint. Remember that as you read on.

For now, let’s take a closer look at how to best manage your finances, according to your zodiac sign. After all, one of the world's foremost financial figures J.P. Morgan once said, ''Millionaires don't use astrology,

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Think before you impulsively splurge, Aries. You are governed by none other than go-getter Mars, the planet of action, energy, passion, and war; hence billionaires do.” your innate courage and general dynamism. In other words, you’re a leader at heart, and you’re not afraid to take bold risks either. You also tend to thrive via fast-paced environments, which makes you more likely to pay for priority shipping while online shopping. Is it really worth it? It wouldn’t hurt to give yourself a much-needed grace period where you can sleep on your decision, as opposed to rushing to checkout of your shopping cart. If you still feel the same way about it the following day, then maybe it is for you, after all.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

Let’s face it, Taurus: there’s nothing you enjoy more than basking in your luxurious delights, and it’s all thanks to your harmony-seeking planetary ruler, Venus, which also happens to be the planet of love, beauty, and pleasure. If someone ever questions your love for the finer things, you can always blame astrology. However, despite your persistence, ride-or-die loyalty and financially savvy ways, your lavish tastes are bound to affect your financial stability one way or another. With this in mind, and while harnessing the stability-seeking energy of your zodiac archetype, be sure to map things out properly with regards to your future. Reflect on what is truly worthy of your investment.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

Your innate desire for variety is both a blessing and a curse when it comes to your financial stability, Gemini. Similar to your curious but incredibly fickle planetary ruler, Mercury, your inconsistency and unpredictable nature can be just as ingenious as it is chaotic. With that being said, your best bet would be to budget and compartmentalize your spending patterns, and financial goals. Also, open a savings account if you don’t already have one. Storing some cash for a rainy day is always a good idea.

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

Despite being a collector of moments, memories and heirlooms, you’re still intuitively guided by your emotions, Cancer. As you might know, you’re governed by the ever-changing moon, which is why you’re naturally changeable with regards to your emotional world… and well, your budgeting skills and financial stability is no exception. Some of you, however, prefer to save as much as possible to feel secure but, by that same token, you are also likely to nurture others with your hard-earned money as opposed to yourself. The key is to cultivate balance between splurging on your own needs vs. that of your loved ones.

Leo (July 23 to August 22)

Earning a living is the least of your worries, Leo. You’re ruled by the charismatic sun, and your unique talents never cease to bring you the abundance you deserve. However, this is precisely why you’re more likely to live above your means. You are also quite generous with your money, especially when it comes to gift-giving and splurging on fashionable items that make you look the part. So, with all of that being said, prioritizing what truly matters is the best way to manage your finances. That means: if you’re making it a point to spend on material luxuries this month, then you may need to take a break from ordering your favorite takeout. Having the best of both worlds is still possible, but to a certain extent.

Virgo (August 23 to September 22)

In typical mercurial fashion, you tend to have a knack for minimalism, practicality and strategy, Virgo. However, there’s no such thing as perfect and you, more than anyone, know that there’s always room for improvement. So, with this in mind, it’s important for you to reflect on the legitimate value of your hard-earned money, especially those of you choosing to store it all away in fear of the worst case scenario. All work and no play isn’t always healthy, so don’t hesitate to treat yourself every once in a while. Your mind, body, and soul will thank you. After all, your zodiac archetype speaks to the essence of the harvest, so be sure to bask in the fruits of your labor.

Libra (September 23 to October 22)

When it comes to managing your finances, your best bet is to steer away from people-pleasing, Libra. Granted, in addition to being ruled by harmony-seeking Venus, you’re also inspired by the desire to connect, compromise, and relate to those around you. You’re known for having perfect attendance when it comes to social gatherings, happy hours with co-workers, and pilates with your best pals. But like everything else, it can pile up eventually. Having said that, you’d be surprised at how much progress you can make by simply narrowing it down to one to three important outings per month, as opposed to splurging your entire paycheck for the sake of being in good company.

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)

When you’ve got your mind set on something, it’s hard to shift your energy and focus elsewhere, Scorpio. This, however, could potentially work in your favor, as long as you’re making a conscious effort to do so. You’re the zodiac’s alchemist and just like your transformative planetary ruler, Pluto, you have the passion and strength to take the necessary risks. On the flipside, some of you may be reluctant to discuss your finances, given your secretive nature. However, it wouldn’t hurt for you to open up a bit, and connect with a financial advisor you can trust. Your potential is limitless, after all, so don’t sleep on your money-making abilities and financial well being.

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)

It’s always an adventure with you around, Sagittarius. Although, whether you’re reluctant to the idea of working with a set budget, your colorful spontaneity and idealism is more than often reflected onto your financial stability. That being said, while there’s nothing wrong with being the optimist of the zodiac, it’s also important to remain grounded when it comes to your spending habits, and money-making abilities. The real question is, are you being realistic when it comes to your financial livelihood? You may prefer to live for today, but setting a few dollars aside every now and then will serve you well in the long-run.

Capricorn (December 22 to January 19)

Similar to your earth-sign family, you’re more likely to be frugal with your finances, Capricorn. Pat yourself on the back, because not everyone is a natural at being resourceful. However, as some would say, “heavy is the head that wears the crown,” so don’t forget to reward yourself from time to time, especially after a job well-done. It’s also important to discern between the money you earn versus your personal and professional value. You tend to be your own worst critic, so try to cut yourself some slack. Besides, what’s the point in holding onto all of your money when you work as hard as you do?

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)

You’re the humanitarian of the zodiac, which makes you equally as generous as you are determined, Aquarius. And though you’re often celebrated for your kind donations to social groups and causes, there may be an imbalance with regards to working around your financial budget versus the money you invest in the community at-large. That being said, paying close attention to what is incoming and being withdrawn from your bank account is key. You’re a logical air sign, and neglecting your financial stability for the sake of supporting others isn’t necessarily the smartest idea. Besides, not choosing to prioritize your money is still a choice.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)

Admit it, Pisces: you couldn’t care less about money. Thanks to your dreamy planetary ruler, Neptune, the majority of you dance between the idea of achieving financial success versus submitting to what inspires you creatively. Having said that, your love-hate relationship with money could be the reason why you’re not the most practical when it comes to your spending habits and savings account. So, instead of focusing so much on tending to a savings account, why not turn it around and make it about your dreams, and creative pursuits? Budgeting around what inspires you can be your superpower.
